In three short months, the Coronavirus has spread across the world affecting businesses in all industries and all demographics. At Bodine Electric Company, we have multiple facilities in United States, as well as a subsidiary operation in Suzhou, China – all of which have been fortunate in not having any severe impacts due to the spread of the Coronavirus up to now, yet the situation is likely to change daily.
As more states continue to issue orders that close non-essential businesses, we want to let you know that Bodine Electric Company is operating as close to normal as circumstances permit. As a valued supplier of gearmotors, motors and electronic control products to critical infrastructure industries such as healthcare, lab equipment, restaurant equipment, warehouse operations and energy production, we understand it is vital to keep supply chains in operation.
If your business is viewed as “essential” or part of the “critical Infrastructure sectors” we would greatly appreciate a letter affirming Bodine Electric Company as an essential supplier to your business. This will also allow us to prioritize our resources to meet the needs of those essential industries.
While we keep operations running, we maintain the health and safety of all employees as a top priority. We have enabled remote working where possible and as technology allows. In areas where remote working is not possible, such as the manufacturing floor, we are utilizing best practice guidelines from the CDC and OSHA to implement appropriate policies and procedures such as social distancing and focus on improved hygiene and environmental cleaning.
We realize that this situation is a dynamic one and subject to constant change. At this point our mitigation efforts and advance planning activities appear to be working and we foresee only minor impact on our customers in terms of meeting their demand for Bodine Electric products. Those matters that may be impacted include the following:
- Open orders in
our system are currently not expected to see any significant delays and we are
continuing to meet our on-time shipping goal of 96%.
- Most that fall outside that 96% target will still ship within 2-5 days of the promise date.
- Our Planning Team continuously reviews all open orders against incoming components to flag orders ahead of time if they will be late and the Bodine Sales Team notifies any potentially affected customers.
- Our ability to expedite open orders has been restricted, however we are doing our best to prioritize any expedites where a “line down” situation is present.
- New orders may start to see slightly longer lead times. Where we might have seen 6 weeks as normal before, 7-8 weeks might be the new normal in the near term. Please review your ERP lead times along with any blanket orders that need renewals to assure we can get them in place earlier than normal.
We want to take this time to wish, you, your employees and your company well in this uncertain time. We thank you for your past business and will do our best to retain your confidence as a valued supplier in the future. If you have any additional questions, please reach out to me, your Regional Sales Manager, or any member of our Customer Service Team.
Best Regards,
Michael Gschwind,
